Why Elliot does this work
Elliot Wren was called to the Ontario bar in 2008 and has focused on family law ever since. Over those years, Elliot has sat across the table from hundreds of good people making hard decisions while frightened, rushed and short on information.
That experience is why Wren & Ashby exists. Elliot believes most families do better when they understand their options early, keep conflict as low as they safely can and save court for the issues that truly need a judge.
When court is necessary, Elliot prepares carefully and stays steady. Clients often say the biggest relief was finally having someone who could tell them what was likely to happen next, and why.
How Elliot works with clients
Plain answers. Elliot explains the law in everyday words, including the parts that are uncertain, so you can make decisions with clear eyes.
Children first. Parenting plans are built around routines, school and the relationships children need, not around who can claim more days on a calendar.
No surprises on fees. You’ll hear what each step is likely to involve before it starts, and Elliot will tell you honestly when a dispute isn’t worth what it would cost.
Prompt replies. Elliot aims to return calls and emails within one business day, even when the update is simply “we’re still waiting to hear back.”
Elliot handles negotiation and court work across York Region and the GTA, including separation agreements, parenting disputes, child and spousal support and dividing property. Elliot also works in French, which can make a real difference to families who want to talk through something this personal in their first language.
Outside the office, Elliot is usually on a trail somewhere north of Newmarket with a very muddy dog, or in the kitchen attempting a sourdough loaf that never quite looks like the photos. Slow, patient hobbies are a good reminder that the things most worth doing rarely happen overnight, and that is true of rebuilding a family’s life, too.
