Cookie Notice

This notice explains the cookies and similar tools our website uses, why we use them and how you can control them.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Similar tools, such as pixels and tags, work in much the same way. They help a site remember things, understand how it is used and measure advertising.

This notice explains the cookies used on the Wren & Ashby Family Law website and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

The types of cookies we use

Essential cookies

These keep the website working and secure, for example by remembering your cookie choices, protecting forms from spam and balancing traffic. They don’t identify you personally for marketing, and the site may not work properly without them, so they can’t be switched off in our cookie settings.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our site, such as which pages are read most and where people leave. This helps us write clearer content and fix problems.

Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga, which can last up to two years. We use the information in aggregate, and we don’t use it to identify you personally.

Advertising cookies

If you have consented where required, we use advertising tools to measure whether our ads reach people who find them helpful:

  • Google Ads conversion tracking. Tells us when someone who clicked one of our Google ads later contacts us or books a consultation. It may set cookies such as _gcl_au, which typically last about 90 days.

  • Meta Pixel. Helps us measure the results of ads on Facebook and Instagram and show our ads to relevant audiences. It may set cookies such as _fbp, which typically last about 90 days.

These tools record that an action happened, such as a page visit or a form submission. They never receive the content of the messages you send us through our forms.

Your choices

When you first visit our website, you can accept or decline analytics and advertising cookies. Essential cookies are always on. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.

You also have other ways to control cookies:

  • Browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may stop some parts of the site from working.

  • Google. You can manage ad personalization through your Google account settings, and Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.

  • Meta. You can manage how Meta uses data from websites through the ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram settings.

  • Industry opt-outs. The Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada offers tools to opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies.

  • Private browsing. Using a private or incognito window will usually clear cookies when you close it.

A note on sensitive searches

We understand that searching for family law help can be private, especially if you share a device with a partner. You may want to use a private browsing window, clear your browser history after visiting or use a device that only you can access.

If you are worried about your safety, a computer at a public library or a trusted friend’s phone may be safer. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.
